Bach’s Actus Tragicus (Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit) is among his most intimate and moving works, scored for chorus, recorders, gambas, and continuo. Paired with contemporary music by Jennifer Lucy Cook, Ola Gjeilo, Adolphus Hailstork, Shavon Lloyd, and Tarik O’Regan, this program explores loss and longing while affirming resilience, hope, and renewal.  Featuring guest musicians, Ruth Cunningham, Wendy Powers, recorder, Patricia Ann Neely, Adam Young, viola da gamba, Christine Gummere, cello, James Fitzwilliam, organ and piano.

Featuring a newly commissioned work by poet Paul Kane and composer Colin Britt, this annual Advent service at the Vassar College Chapel features readings, choral anthems, and congregational carols, culminating in a candle lighting ceremony. Vassar College Choir, Chamber Singers, and Treble Chorus, and Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir will perform.
